Astrifa Strickmodelle has been producing knitwear in Bavaria for over 65 years. The company was founded by Richard Hawranek in 1948. The business was transferred to its current site in Aidenbach, Bavaria, Germany, in 1953. In the beginning all kinds of knitwear products were sold, but from 1978 onwards the focus has been on alpine style knitwear.
The current owner Ursula Hawranek and her husband Horst Hawranek have been running the business since 1971. Both the business and the facilities were expanded in the 1980s to meet the requirements of a modern textile production site.
The 1990s were characterized by a massive crisis in textile industries which had an impact on our business as well. A cutback in workforce and capacity was inevitable in order to survive. We weathered the storm owing to the efforts and know-how of our workforce, the loyalty and satisfaction of our customers and the excellent cooperation with our suppliers and partners. In recent years Astrifa has been able to change course back towards growing business and its workforce has been increased to currently around sixty people. Richard Hawranek joined the management in 2013 as his father Horst retired.
